Transit Manager Position Available

The MIDAS Council of Governments, a six-county regional planning agency, is seeking qualified applicants for the Transit Manager position. The Transit Manager performs a variety of administrative duties as specified by the Executive Director to oversee the operation of the agency’s Transit Department. The Transit Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the operations, programs, activities, and services of the three bus systems that compromise the Transit Department (DART, RTA 5, and Manson Northwest Webster School Bus). He or she is also responsible for compliance with all State and Federal Laws, preparing financial reports and budget recommendations, and supervising transit contracts, the maintenance program, the dispatch program, and maintaining required records. He or she provides public relations to the community, is responsible for marketing services offered, collecting and collating statistical data, and provides supervision to transit staff. A successful candidate must have knowledge of public administration, financial administration, generally accepted accounting principles, personnel management, state and federal laws and regulations, and be able to communicate effectively.  A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Transportation, Management, Planning, or a similar field of study is required. Two years of work experience is required. Must posses a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening test. Salary range between $50,552 to $60,415 depending on qualifications. MID IOWA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE scheduled for November 12th, 2009

"Potential in Motion" is the theme for this year's Mid Iowa Community Develoment Conference scheduled for November 12th, 2009.  This year's conference is being held at the Best Western Starlite in Fort Dodge.  The Conference will feature a keynote speaker, legislative forum and breakout sessions that focus on alternative energy and green innovations, the economic impact of vineyards and wineries in Iowa communities and a session on the impact of Iowa's film industry.
